Glorious Diane

I first met my friend Diane Mapes when she came to Queen Anne Books to do a fantastic event for her book, Single State of the Union. Like her writing, Diane is hilarious, smart, and wonderful. I knew our paths would have to cross again when she suggested we put up a pinata with a bride on it for all the single ladies to act out their aggression against marriage pressure. Let me tell you, laughter and a baseball bat can transform an author signing into a wild time!

Diane always just makes me feel great. She’s the type of person who lifts others up and offers encouragement all the time. And did I mention how funny she is?

Diane is also fighting breast cancer. She is strong, beautiful, and brave. She chronicles her experiences online for msnbc (her latest: “Love in the Time of Chemotherapy“), and recently she did a very brave photo shoot showing how she transforms her chemo look to her date look. With and without her wig, she shows just how beautiful bravery is.

Diane: You are amazing!

She sounds brave indeed! Anyone whos willing to have a pinata at a book signing rocks in my opinion…I always say no party is complete without one. That would be why we had one at our wedding!

So glad you brought your friend Diane into my radar, Tegan. I have enjoyed her humor and bravery in the small amount I have read. Ready to read more.
